About Playwright Checkout Rules
Playwright Checkout Rules is a checkout rules app for Shopify brands. Merchants and the agencies that support them use it to run promotions and checkout customizations — bundles, buy-one-get-one offers, tiered and VIP pricing, discount code rules, and the shipping and payment options customers see — and to change them without waiting on a developer.
Playwright launched in 2021 as a visual builder for Shopify Script Editor. Instead of writing Ruby, merchants picked a template, set the conditions that decide who qualifies, and combined as many rules as they needed into one script.
Shopify retired Script Editor on June 30, 2026, and replaced it with Shopify Functions. Playwright now publishes the same templates and conditions as Shopify Functions, so rules run natively in Shopify checkout. Merchants who built rules for Scripts keep them and can move them across.
