Can Playwright add a free gift to the cart?
No. Shopify Functions can’t add items to a cart. Playwright makes the gift free once the customer adds it, so tell customers to add it.
Why does my buy one, get one free offer need 2 in the cart?
For the same product, set Buy number 2 and Get number 1: the customer adds 2 and one is free. Buy 1 Get 1 on the same items would make every unit free. See Buy one, get one on the same product.
Do I need to create discount codes in Shopify?
Not for exact codes in line item rules: Playwright creates them when you publish. Codes matched by a wildcard or pattern, and codes in shipping rules, must exist in Shopify. See Discount code rules.
Do Playwright’s discounts combine with my other discounts?
Playwright’s line item discounts combine with order and shipping discounts but not with other product discounts. Its shipping discount combines with product and order discounts, and an order gets one shipping discount.
Why does a renamed shipping rate still show the carrier’s name?
Shopify always shows the carrier’s name before a renamed rate. Playwright can’t change that.
Can I rename or move Shop Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay?
No. Shopify doesn’t let apps rename or move wallets. You can hide them.
How many rules can I have?
There’s no fixed number. The active rules of each area must fit in about 10 kB, and long lists of IDs, tags or codes use the most room. Playwright tells you when an area is too large.
Can I choose the order rules run in?
Yes. Rules run from the top of the list down. Drag a rule to move it, then publish. See Rule order.
Can I test a rule without customers seeing it?
Add a customer tag condition only your test customer has, like playwright-test, publish, and check out as that customer. Remove the condition when you’re ready.
What happens if I delete a Playwright discount in Shopify?
Edit any rule in that area (renaming it is enough), save and publish: Playwright creates the discount again when the published rules change. To stop rules running, make them inactive in Playwright and publish instead of deleting anything in Shopify.
Does Playwright work on my Shopify plan?
Playwright doesn’t check your plan. Shopify decides which plans and regions each checkout customization works on, and some payment changes depend on your plan. See Shopify plans.
What happens to my rules if I uninstall Playwright?
Uninstalling deletes the rules saved in Playwright.
Do I need a developer?
No. You choose a template, set who and what it applies to, and publish.
